Houston Tea Ceremony and Catholic Wedding | Amy + Steve

Amy and Steve are officially Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen! We loved being a part of their special wedding celebrations! Their wedding day started at the brand new Still Waters Ranch venue in Alvin, TX. Amy and her bridesmaids spent the morning listening to music and sipping mimosas in the upstairs bridal suite. Amy’s hair and makeup artist was actually one of our past brides, Lexi- such a small world! Meanwhile, the groomsmen were hanging out downstairs and cracking up at the hilarious custom socks that Steve gave them. Too funny!

After everyone was dressed, we headed over to Amy’s parents’ house to kick off the festivities! One thing that was important to me and Alex on our own wedding day was incorporating our heritage. We always think it’s so special when couples find ways to incorporate their cultures and the things that are most important to them on their wedding day. Amy and Steve chose to have a traditional Vietnamese ceremony with their parents and bridal party. My jaw dropped when I saw the incredible flower arch and ceremony backdrop created by Kim Events. Amy looked absolutely stunning in her traditional custom gown, and it was such an honor capturing this special tea ceremony for her and Steve!

When the tea ceremony concluded, we drove to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where Amy and Steve changed outfits and prepared to say “I do!” Both of Amy’s wedding day dresses were absolutely gorgeous on her, and who doesn’t love a mid-day outfit change?! It was a beautiful service filled with prayer and worship and focused on the importance of marriage. Afterwards, the newlyweds and bridal party drove down the street to a nearby park for some fun bridal party portraits.

About a year ago, Amy and Steve brought their dogs to their engagement session. Knowing how much Amy and Steve love their dogs, it was no surprise they chose to incorporate the pups into their wedding day photos as well! Amy’s sister brought the pups to the park so they could be in some of the bride and groom photos. So adorable!

Amy and Steve decided to postpone the second half of their wedding festivities until 2021, but that just means we are lucky enough to work with them AGAIN next summer! We can’t wait to celebrate with them again as they are surrounded by all of their friends and family at their big reception next year! Congratulations again to Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen!!
