a childhood home transformation
When I first talked to Katie on the phone, we covered all of her wedding day details from the color scheme to the venue! (At her session, we were laughing about how our initial phone call lasted 45 minutes! But like Katie said, “When you click, you click!”) I especially loved talking to Katie about the story of their wedding venue. Not only is it a gorgeous venue with tall trees and a lake, but it’s also Jeff’s childhood home!
Jeff’s family sold the property, and then it was slowly converted into a wedding venue. During their engagement session, Katie and Jeff had a chance to reminisce about what the property meant to them. Jeff and his siblings used to run around and fish here. Katie was introduced to Jeff’s family here. I can’t think of a more special place for Katie and Jeff to tie the knot!
one year from now
Katie and Jeff are getting married in November 2017! We thought it would be fun to take photos at the same place and in the same month they are getting married next year. This gave me a chance to see the venue exactly how it will look next fall. (I even have all of the best photo spots picked out in my head, AND I know where the best light is!)
As we took photos, I got a grand tour of the property. We started Katie and Jeff’s session in the front of the property, and we made our way to the lake in the back. The lake had the most amazing reflection at sunset! It doesn’t even look like we are in Texas anymore! By the end of the session, we walked across the bridge that led to Katie and Jeff’s ceremony site. It’s a gorgeous gazebo covered in vines. There’s no doubt that it will be an incredible place for them to say “I do!”
I cherished my time with Katie and Jeff, and I can’t wait to be back in this exact spot next year!
