Before I was primarily a wedding photographer, I took a lot of senior portraits. This started way back in high school and lasted throughout college. One of my last semesters of college, I took a good amount of senior portraits of friends I had studied abroad with. For each session, I usually recommend that seniors bring along a friend to help fix flyaway hairs, make them laugh, etc. One of my seniors, Hannah, brought along her friend Amy. Flash forward to a couple weeks ago, and I had the privilege of photographing Amy’s wedding! (With Hannah as a bridesmaid, of course!)

Amy and Jonathan were married at Big Sky Barn located in Montgomery, Texas. It’s a relatively new venue that has gorgeous architecture throughout from its wood paneled chapel to its modern barn reception space. I love how Amy paired classic navy dresses and tuxedos with a rustic barn. It was the perfect wedding for two Aggies! (All of the bridesmaids even changed into boots at the reception!)

the hunt is over

There was a lot to love about Amy and Jonathan’s reception! For starters, the groom’s cake was adorable. It has two deer dressed like a bride and groom, and it reads “The Hunt is Over!” So cute! As a thank you gift, guests went home with custom koozies. When I asked Amy about them, she said that their intention was for guests to think about her and Jonathan, as well as pray for their marriage, whenever the koozies were used. I think that goes to show all of the heart that Amy and Jonathan put into every detail of their wedding!

At the end of the night, the newlyweds exited the barn down a path of sparklers. After seeing how the photos turned out, I am pretty convinced that EVERY couple should do their sparkler exit at at twilight instead of midnight- you’ll have to scroll down to the bottom to see!
