Bohemian Destination Wedding | Dara + Matt

COLORFUL BOHEMIAN WEDDING

Dara and Matt were married last weekend in Montgomery, TX, and their wedding is what bohemian dreams are made of! Dara and Matt currently live in California, but they chose to say their vows at a private family home in Texas. (Fun fact: their wedding is considered a “destination wedding” because they traveled out of town to their venue!) With help from The Posh Affair, Dara and Matt’s dream wedding day came to life. The whole day was filled with special touches from custom painted tambourines for the bridesmaids and a cigar and scotch bar for the guys. Colorful flowers covered the ceremony tree and lined the tabletops- it was such a refreshing color palette of dusty blues, purples, and pinks. I loved Dara’s attention to detail; the invitations had a custom sketch of the venue and even the back porch swing was lined with flowers!

Dara and Matt are such a sweet couple, and they didn’t let the cold misty weather put a damper on their day! (That’s the crazy Texas weather for you, right?!) Aside from the meaningful details, I loved getting to see how Dara and Matt made the day personal to them. They exchanged gifts at the beginning of the day, and Dara completely surprised Matt with an acoustic guitar! When it was time for the ceremony, they read each other handwritten vows, and smiled and laughed throughout the entire ceremony. It was in the 40’s during the ceremony, but the contagious joy between Dara and Matt made it impossible to focus on anything besides the two of them officially becoming husband and wife!

OUTDOOR TEXAS WEDDING RECEPTION

After the ceremony, Alex and I noticed that Matt was hanging around by the ceremony site while everyone else headed to the reception. We found out it’s because the newlyweds buried bourbon before their wedding day. Burying bourbon is an old southern tradition that’s supposed to “keep the rain away” on a wedding day. I think we can say the tradition worked because the light mist outside never turned into a downpour, and they were still able to have their ceremony and reception outside! Matt dug up the bourbon and put it onto the scotch bar- dirt and all!

Dara and Matt shared a romantic first dance outside under the twinkly lights right at sunset. Guests watched from their tables as they were bundled up in cozy blankets and keeping warm next to the heaters. Once the dancefloor opened, it was jampacked all night until the last dance. For the last dance, guests surrounded Dara and Matt on the dancefloor with sparklers. (That might be my new favorite Grand Exit idea!!)

Dara and Matt, it was such an honor capturing your wedding day! I’m so excited to see what married life has in store for the two of you!

Dara’s shoes were my FAVORITE! Dara surprised him with a guitar! Putting the finishing touches on her handwritten vows. Sweet First Look with dad. The most stylish group of girls! Ceremony time! Here comes the bride… Guests tossed lavender as they walked back down the aisle. Dara and Matt are the SWEETEST together!
Loved this fun bridal party!Dara- oh my GOODNESS! You are so stunning! They “buried bourbon” before the wedding- it’s a southern wedding tradition. Time to unbury! How sweet is this sunset dance under the twinkly lights! One of my favorites- all wrapped up in a blanket during toasts! Sinfully Sweet Designs made the most beautiful cakes!  We snuck the newlyweds away for a few minutes to take some romantic portraits in the rain!

Thank you to all of the wedding vendors who made Dara and Matt’s dream wedding come to life!
