Shirley Acres Wedding | Krystal + Madi

pick a seat, not a side, either way it’s for a bride!

Flashback to freshman year of college, and I was attending Fish Camp for Texas A&M University. I was in the Green camp (which is a perfect fit for this wedding!), and Krystal was one of my counselors. I enjoyed Fish Camp, but I wasn’t super into jumping around and yelling at the top of my lungs. My biggest takeaway from Fish Camp was definitely the incredible relationships I made. (One of my friends from my camp even became my roommate throughout college and one of my bridesmaids!)

Fish Camp relationships proved to be important even as college went on. I was so excited when Krystal referred me to take senior portraits of Madi. I remember strolling around downtown with the two of them and Madi’s dog, Sebastian. When the next milestone came about- their engagement!- we all got to work together again. Sebastian included! Needless to say, their dream wedding has been in the works for a while, and I was honored to play a part in it!

I remember looking at Krystal and Madi’s wedding website and falling in love with the adorable green and navy bicycle theme. I was so excited when I arrived at their wedding and saw matching programs, signs, and thank you favors all with the same theme! Every detail of the day was perfect! My absolute favorite part of the day was Krystal and Madi’s sweet gift exchange. They exchanged their presents from either side of a corner, so they couldn’t see each other. One minute, Madi is tearing off wrapping paper from a gift, and the next moment, she has a surprise bicycle in front of her! Her reaction was SO priceless, and the photo of her seeing the bike for the first time is one of my favorites from the day!

After their ceremony at Shirley Acres, we took the most GORGEOUS sunset photos in the back of the venue. Once the reception started, guests laughed and cried during the toasts and then danced to a mix of pop, country, and Tejano music all night. The wedding ended with a sparkler exit…the sparklers lasted for so long that they got to run through 3 times. Too funny!

Krystal and Madi, what an honor it was to be a part of your wedding journey for the past couple years! Congratulations to the new Mrs. and Mrs. O’Brien!

Custom converse for their wedding day! All of the anticipation before their “blind first look” + gift exchange! Ahh, the best surprise ever!
They’re married!! How gorgeous are these two brides and that sunset!? One of my new favorite reception photos! I heard Madi was the mastermind behind this “Selfie Station” setup. LOVE!

Thank you to all of the vendors who made this amazing day possible!
