DRIFTWOOD, TEXAS WEDDING

Sandy and Matt are officially Mr. and Mrs. Thomas!! They were married last weekend at Creekside, a gorgeous venue nestled in the middle of Driftwood, TX. It was a beautiful day for an outdoor, hill country ceremony! Alex and I travel all over Texas to photograph weddings, and this was the first time we photographed one in Driftwood! We love out-of-town weddings because we get to explore a little more of this giant state we call home. Sandy and Matt’s venue was so gorgeous that we are already dreaming about the next time we will be back in town! (Not to mention Driftwood is home to the famous Salt Lick BBQ- mmm!)

Sandy and Matt’s wedding day was filled with blush colored flowers and pops of navy. Even Sandy’s dress had blush undertones! Her dress was one of the most stunning dresses I’ve seen with its intricate detail and ruffled train. The bridesmaids all wore different shades of pink, and I love the way their mix and match dresses looked!

My favorite part of the day was witnessing Sandy and Matt’s meaningful ceremony. The Best Man, Ronnie, sang at the beginning, and tears were shed throughout the entire ceremony. Rest assured- they were all happy tears because Sandy kept a huge smile on her face the entire time! Once they were announced husband and wife, Sandy and Matt beamed as they walked down the aisle hand in hand.

CREEKSIDE WEDDING RECEPTION

When I first spoke with Sandy to hear the vision behind her wedding day, she mentioned that they were going to have a live band! I love live music, and I was especially excited when she said their band was the Royal Dukes. Alex and I had them at our wedding, too, and we always sing their praises! Matt is in a band with his Best Man, and I knew Matt really wanted to play a song with the Royal Dukes at some point during the reception. After the special dances concluded and the dance floor was open, I knew it was only a matter of time until they hopped up on stage!

Matt is an INCREDIBLE guitar player, and watching him get to do what he loves with his new wife in the front row was SO much fun! The crowd loved cheering them on while they were on stage, and I think it’s safe to say it was one of the most memorable parts of the reception! (I’m hoping to see some cell phone videos on Facebook soon- haha!)

Another unexpected moment happened during the cake cutting. Sandy smashed cake into Matt’s face, and his reaction was PRICELESS. Those are some of my favorite images from the day because their smiles say it all! Guests danced the night away underneath the gorgeous chandeliers that lined the reception space and bid the newlyweds goodbye with a sparkler exit at the end of the night.
